Awright , I rely on you guys for all my mechanical ?'s. My 2002 7.3 is sick. Yesterday coming home from work I picked up a shimmy/washboard effect in the front end. Had new brakes and rotors put on . Mechanic says the rotors were warped. When I get home from work today I have a message from mech. saying the washboard effect (shuddering) is still in the front end and he will need to keep the truck overnight again. Now my ? for you all , What do you think could be the problem? It felt to me like the shudder was in the engine, maybe injectors(hope not) , the routine maintanence is done religiously. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I am guessing the wheel hub, the unit bearing that Pocket mentioned. Jack up one side at a time and while someone watches the ball joint area, pry up or down on the tire. If you feel movement but it isnt in the ball joints, it is the bearings.
