Ever get that sick feeling?
The ball joints are going in fine. Bought the nice dana greaseable's.
Question is what is acceptable for wheel bearing play? I don't think these ball joints are gonna help with my camber issue. What is acceptable? I think they are wobbling pretty bad.
I don't see any damage to the axle shafts or anything. Everything actually looks pretty good.
I'm asking because it will cost 600 to 800 bucks to replace both bearing assemblies. That's a lot of cash just to get the same play from the new one's and that could be the case.
Those wheel bearings, is that dana's idea or ford? What the he double l.
TIA
Using a dial indicator mounted to the caliper bolts. So many thousandths of movement
as indicated by the dial indicator.
If you can grab them and see any movemt, change them.
I believe this was Dana's design.
You could spend over $1500 for a dyna-trac repackable setup if you want to.
Just think how smooth that truck will feel again though, when you hand over the money to source!!!LOL

I don't think I need a dial guage on that one.
Thanks again.

Si, Bueno. Done.
Wheel bearing shot driver side. Ball joints passenger shot(what 4wp said).
About 800 bucks for parts. 400 for tools. 5 to make the seal installer(1-1/2 nipple witha floor flange ground down) FTE members thanks for the heads up on that one.
Still have some camber but it is equal on both sides. I think it has always been that way.
Napa Dana balljoints 190
Napa Wheel bearing assy 300
Ford Seals 130
Ford Wheel bearing studs and nuts 24.
Difficulty level on a scale of 1-5? I'd say 3.5 to 4. I made it through though and I'm just an I.T.Guy.
And yes she rides smooth and tight now.
4.10's and lockers next.
Peace
