In the process of doing steering linkage, ball joints, wheel Bearings and axle seals pretty much full refurbish on the dana 60.
Good way to start the process was the passenger hub was a little rusted went from a rubber malley to a metal and damaged that hub.
I don't wish to spend the money on warn premiums
There are auto and manual hubs.
Mine say free and locked
Can i get away with using a set of auto hubs in place of them? Would leaving them in auto be the same as free in the manual hubs? Until needed then l get out and lock them.
$85 for two motorcraft autos on ebay but the ones that say free and locked are for some reason more expensive.
If I follow you correctly then yes. The OEM "hubs on my 99 which I assume are the same on your 03, work by either vacuum "auto mode" or turning the hub dial to lock or unlock like basic locking hubs. There's lots of guys who disable and delete the vacuum system and lines as the system has its problems. '

However, if you just want some hubs cheap that carry a warranty but don't want to buy Warn, look into MileMarkers or some of the cheaper manual hubs. Last I checked the auto hubs were almost as much as Warn hubs.
IMO Warn was once the pinnacle of offroadism. Now there over priced, made in China so so parts.
Their hubs are still advertised as made in USA. Some of their other stuff, not so much. And it might just be assembled here, I can't say...just going off what their literature says.
Have one OEM auto-locked and one OEM free-locked. When I PM'd hubs they looked the same on the interior. Both used in "manual" 4x4 mode, do not trust vacuum hubs.
Mile marker 449SS, never look back, you'll never break them and if you do somehow manage that after you replace all the other busted parts MM will give you a new set for free, no questions. I wish I took pics when I took both styles apart but the stockers look super wimpy vs the massive slugs of steel inside the MM's. The MM and Warns are maybe 4 or 5 parts (the selector/body, the sprag, the spring, the bottom retaining ring)
Thanks all. I ordered a pair of motorcraft ones off of ebay. Might be knockoffs. I kept the old ones just incase I need to swap internals if they break. Truck is too rusted to get a pair of nice ones unfortunately.
