metal Area around plastic lockout
2015 f350 xlt 6.7 Any one have a part number to replace metal piece around lockout ? It seems like its a very soft metal and its flaking apart. Or know what its called dont even know what to call it to do a search
That is part of the actual hub itself. It can't be replaced without replacing the entire hub. It's hard to tell because its flaked off, but there are manual hubs, and Auto hubs. If you have the ESOF system, then you need this hub: https://www.ebay.com/p/1611135202 If you have the manual, you will need these:

Check the other hub and see if you can make out Auto or Free.
Toss em in the trash, plug the vacuum holes in the spindle, and get manual hubs. You'll be doing these auto hubs again in short order. Attention *****s and when they fail is always when you need them most.

Cant u still just turn the auto hubs by hand if or when they fail anyway??
Yup. It's always a good idea to manually turn them every now and then to keep the parts moving, as well as engaging your 4X4 system so the seals inside the hub don't get brittle and fail.

Yes. This is basic maintenance for the auto hubs as well. The auto hubs have treated my dad good on his '08, the only other thing he does is every 2-3 years he pulls them out, puts a bit of new grease on them, and puts them back.
