I need to disassemble the front hub on my 1995 Bronco to check and grease bearing . My repair manual shows the wrong hub assembly . after removing the cap I don't seem to have a lock ring to hold the hub assembly in. I need to know how to get it out. It's a full size with a manual hub.
i have a 95, auto hubs i assume. yes they do have the ring they are harder to see and get out with the auto hubs but theyre there. i replaced mine with manuals... hate the auto ones =P
After you get it out, file/grind a 45 degree on both ends. it will make your life easier next time you take it apart. (It gives you an edge to get a pic under) Make sure the 45 is with the point to the center. (if you do it the other way, it will be harder to get the pic under.)
I have a '95 also and replaced my auto hubs with a manual set from Warn.
I also filed 45 degree angles on the snap rings to simplify removal (it does help). I ended up using a small screw driver to remove it the first couple of times that I had it apart.
What I did to make removal even easier was to drill a small hole in the hub so I can insert a small nail to force the ring out (it is really easy now).
