Hey all, I'm trying to diagnose a noise before I end up in an insane asylum...
I have a 2019 F-250 with the 6.2 gas. When my AC is on, there is a repetitive clicking and whooshing sound. It last for about 5 seconds, and occurs every to 10 to 30 seconds. And I don't just mean when the fan is blowing, but when the actual AC button is depressed and lit up. On the inside of the truck, I hear the whooshing sound coming from the far passenger side vent. Even when the air is already blowing, this seems to be additional air (or whatever it is) blowing somewhere. From the outside of the truck, there is a loud click/pop that happens right at the beginning of the whooshing on the inside. This all repeats continuously as long as my AC is on, whether its a 10 min drive or a 2 hour drive. I don't seem to have any temperature issues, the truck stays nice and cold even on really hot days. My truck is a Lariat and has the auto temp control. I feel like I should call into Car Talk with all the sound descriptions... Thanks in advance.
(you won't hurt my feelings if there's a link to another thread on this already)
Sounds like a recirculate damper is sticking or the actuator is malfunctioning. The actuator is the small motor that controls the air inlet damper to the HVAC, whether it draws air from the outside cowl vents of recurculates the air inside the cab. When it's in the recirculte mode the fan will sound louder.

X2
I've had two vehicles exhibit this. Both were blend door actuator motors.
