So, before I get hounded for not searching, I have looked at many threads that sound similar but none address the issue I am having.
when I turn on my AC with either of the A/C settings on the dial, there is not cold air, but more concerning for me is the sound that accompanies this. There is a whistle that comes from the vents I dependent of speed. In park or on the highway it is the same. This whistle is not constant. It comes for a few seconds and is gone for a few more. It is not rhythmic, but rather random timing. Almost sounds like a dog begging at the table. I have not been running the AC as a result this. I want to take it to a mechanic but I’m curious what to expect and/or see if there’s anything to check first. I will post up a video today so you can hear for yourself. Thanks in advance.
Also, when the blower is out check the evap for blockage. The fact that the a/c is not blowing cold may or may not be the same issue. If your compressor is engaging you may have an issue with the blend door which could case both symptoms you are having also.
My fist guess is that there is a vacuum leak in the cab. The system uses a combination of electrical and vacuum systems, so there is a fair amount of vacuum tubing, connections, motors, and the switches that could be leaking.
One way to confirm or deny would be to disconnect the vacuum feed line from the intake manifold, cap the port on the manifold, and see if your whistle is gone.
