Hauled hay all day yesterday and at last load engine started idling fast and I shut it off. When I started it back up, it would not go above idle and shut off. Tried several times and it would start, idle and shut off. What would this be caused by.
How, where and what pressure. /Do bit see aby ports and assume the rails are what connect what appears to be injectors next to the coils. Truck is in the field away from everything, just tried it again and now it just spins. A 'check gauge" light does pop on when the switch is turned on now. Does it have a in tank fuel pump? If so, will check the fuses. Intend to get the computer read hopefully early next week to see if it shows any causes.
Start troubleshooting with the simplest and cheapest thing. Don't let your mind wander to the worst possible situation.
Fill up the fuel tank, inspect the filler cap.
Loosen the cap on the fuel tank. Did that make any difference ?
When was the last time the fuel filter was changed ? Another cheap and item to replace.
Look for any vacuum lines that are lose or cracked. On a unit 22 years old, these things happen.
Rather than get into "fuel pressure" at the rail, simply take a fuel line loose and crank it over. Did you get fuel ?
Check air filter. Was it dusty while hauling hay?
You can do these things while the truck is in the field.
I went back and read past msg on this same problem, should have done that to begin with. Will order a fuel pump and iac valve. I looked for a line I could just take loose to check fuel flow but did not see any, maybe hid behind the air intake and throttle body sheet metal.

Hello, I have an 02 with V10. Has 250K miles on it and started stalling when I shift into reverse. Also had gas spill on the ground when filling the tank all the way. I bought a spare 44 gal. tank from a junk yard and had it cleaned out and installed a new Delphi pump and new rubber hoses. Didn't expect that to fix the stalling issue, but needed to be done. Had dealer perform a fuel system cleaning. Stopped the stalling temporarily but came back. Replaced filter, fuel flow regulator and no change. Replaced AIC valve, minor change. I get no codes when it happens. Runs fine all day in drive. Guessing it's worn injectors at this point. My point is there are a lot of possible causes. Your getting codes, so I would guess go with those first. Also remember the "re-learn" sequence once you have reconnected the battery. It's in the owner's manual. Good luck!
