Third brake light?!?! The second was somewhat optional! Joking aside, the most cost effective solution I've seen is use of the standard 6" oblong sealed trailer light assembly. Simply cut the oblong hole and snap the grometted housing in (adding some black silicone if needed):
You can buy fairly cheap LED strip lighting and make you own frame to mount in the back window which is what I did for mine..cost me $10 plus a piece of scrap MDF that I routed out to recess the strip lighting in and painted black. Serves the purpose..used 3M tape to mount it to the window..
mine is similar to "oldf1s" Added module so third lite blinks three times before going solid red... Also added Led tail/brake lights to replace 1157s with the same blink feature...gets your attention

I could only find 12v led bars when I looked for them. Did you find a 6v or is yours 12v? What am I thinking 56’s were 12v?
I like the bed roll lights you guys have done. Super cool.
I am really not great at figuring out electrical stuff unless I have actual drawings to follow. I think understand what the load equalizers are supposed to do, I assume it has something to do with voltage drop and the lights not getting equal power. I am a bit confused on how and where to install but that for me is for another day.
it seems like switching to LEDs across the board makes a lot of sense from a safety perspective, especially the headlights. Lots of research to do.
I am nowhere near doing the wiring yet. Still waiting for a new harness to come in from Chuck and have a ton to do before we get there.
