Hello I am new to the website and am hoping to get a lot of questions answered. I recently purchased a 1986 f150 and saw that the truck I bought was posted on here a couple months ago 😳 Needless to say, a lot of work was needed. This is the next thing that I want to tackle. I don’t know what this is but when I press on the gas I hear clicking coming from this. I popped the hood and opened the throttle and heard it coming from the wires under here. Any idea what it could be? TIA

That is the vacuum reservoir. It supplies the vacuum needed to operate the Thermactor (air pump) system and control the EGR valve. There are four solenoid valves connected to "those wires". The two towards the engine are the Thermactor system control valves. Third from engine valve opens EGR valve. Fourth, nearest starter solenoid is the EGR vent. It breaks the vacuum holding the EGR valve open and allows the EGR valve to close.
Of the two Thermactor solenoid valves, TAB and TAD, the TAD is a one click and done for an engine cycle. The TAB should only click during lean exhaust conditions like deceleration. I wouldn't rule out TAB but more likely the EGR solenoids are struggling to operate the EGR valve. Reach in and put your fingers on the the solenoids and see if you can determine which are "clicking".
This is a situation where pulling the diagnostic trouble codes would be helpful.
