Last week I purchased my first OBS truck. I've always wanted one and finally pulled the trigger. A little about my automotive experience. Been working on cars since I was 12, I worked at a Ford dealership for a few years and with Chevy for almost 10 years. I have been an apprentice technician before, but it wasn't for me. Decided to keep the working on cars thing as a hobby. I do all my own work on my vehicles, down to almost engine rebuilding. I own a cammed C5 Corvette, a Lincoln Mark viii and a Chevrolet Volt for my daily.
I've owned many cars in the past and love the automotive world. Onto my truck. I purchased a 1993 F250 4x4, 7.5L with e40d. The truck only has 85k miles on it and is in very decent condition. It was an Orange County water district truck here in California, so it has maintenance records galore. It does need a few things, but I'll address them as I go. It had been on Craiglist for a couple of months, I figure no one wanted it because it sucks gas, and gas here isn't cheap.
Dude was asking 7k at first then saw it fall all the way to 4800 as time passed. I picked it up for 4000, it was located in Lake Arrowhead which was beautiful. It's been repainted before and had a new trans put in it 10 years ago at 58k miles, although when it upshifts and downshifts from overdrive, it makes a weird noise like a scrape or grinding noise, it doesn't slip though. I need to check the fluid still and go through everything.
So far I have done an oil/filter change, installed new floor mats, cleaned it up, ordered new headlamps, tail lights, all window sweeps and a few other small items. The truck came with brand new bfg a/t theres with only 500 miles on them, they are 285 75 16. The front seems to sag a little, I'll be replacing the front springs. Sorry for the novel, here are some pics.
