Sorry beforehand if I didn't search enough and missed someone's post about this.
I recently acquired a nice 86 f250 and I'm considering installing power locks and windows in it. My question is,.... if I was to buy complete door wiring sets, would they just plug into the main harness under the dash?
I would be interested to know that about bull noses too.
Not what you're asking but I did this very thing to my 1993 truck back in about 1995.
The wiring that feeds power to the drivers door plugged into the existing harness and was plug and play and the existing fuse block had spots for the needed circuit breakers for this but the wiring that travels from the drivers door to the passenger door was not there and had to be added to the under dash area to make it happen.
It was pretty easy to do on my 1993 and it still works great 30 years later.

I'm thinking that it is the same for my year, but I wanted to ask the gurus here before I purchased anything.

I do not think the standard wiring under the dash include provisions for the optional power door locks and windows. On my '84 (no power windows or locks), the special connector C1960 was not present at the fuse panel. I can't say for sure, but I suspect the rest of the optional wiring provisions are not there.
See page 117 for the windows and page 124 for the door locks. Page 14 figure 4 shows connector C1960. Look through the rest of those illustrations to see if you have the other connectors such as C1953, C1955, and C1956.
I don't think it would be too difficult to fabricate the additional wiring needed, so don't let that discourage you.
Will you be installing regular power door locks or the special neighborhood-sensitive version?
I went out and checked my 85 Bronco with manual windows today to verify.
It has no additional connectors under the drivers kick panel or under drivers side dash area like my 93 does.
Also, the Bronco's tailgate wiring harness travels through the firewall and along the chassis back to the tailgate.
But after looking at those 86evtm diagrams, specifically the fuse panel diagram, it looks like C1960 and C1962, which are for the pwr windows and lock circuits, might be on or near the back side of the fuse panel assembly and perhaps not visible with panel mounted in place. EDIT: as mentioned by Karl
EDIT 2: I read on another FORD site that C1960 is a power tap on the back of the fuse panel so take a look.
What does "the special neighborhood-sensitive version" of power door locks look like?
I guess there is a center section wire that I would need to install the items. I thought maybe it was integrated already in the main harness, but guess not.

Thanks for taking the bait.
It's just a cheap joke my uncle used to tell. When I was a kid, he was the only person I knew with power door locks in his car. We'd be driving along and if we entered a bad area, he'd surreptitiously lock the doors and explain his car was equipped with special sensors. Believed it for years, and all of the adults went along with the joke...
