When I got my flare side, non-AC, I got a parts truck, AC, so I took half the fire wall of the AC truck and put it in the flare side so I could have AC but I also kept the kick vents and yes I dont think I will ever have to clean them out but I also dont park under trees and is kept in a garage.
Oh I know asphalt as I did 1 summer as a driver / laborer.
You only put your arm on the back of the seat and have it hit the rear glass 1 time and you never do that again
Did the same with work boots & sneakers. Even after it is rolled out it is too hot to walk on with sneakers.

A cousin of mine who is THE paver operator in these parts, always winning awards for his paving abilities, was sitting on that big Blau-Knox, waiting for the next truck, doing streets in a neighborhood right in front of this entitled preacher's house.
The preacher had came out to the curb, watching the work that no one would ever accuse him of, watching those blue-flame burners under the screed keeping the paver plenty hot so the blacktop didn't stick, when my cousin said "climb on up here, preacher, and get yourself a little taste of hell before you get there".
@FuzzFace2 I installed kick panel vents in my truck 2 years ago. I love them. I cannot figure out why they closed them up on factory air trucks. And yes, I use then all the time especially in spring and fall.
My Dad’s 73 chev had them, but we were in the High Desert of Oregon and never needed “air” At any rate, when I found the 1980 could be changed over to those vents, I went to the pic and got the parts, painted them with SEM, and installed them.
@kr98664 N’Sync? I am trying not to judge. We roll with Waylon, Molly Hatchett, Outlaws, a dosage of Nugent, Whiskeytown, and Son Volt around here, among others
Today, I cranked the Yellow Rose up, and she blew cold cold air again. It is a beautiful thing.
For those who have not seen my restoration over the years, here she is:
I think you have two problems. One is that the compressor shaft seal is leaking. The other is that the compressor is just bad. Send it back and try it again. After you check and correct the oil level, put the compressor so the clutch is facing the ground, turn the compressor a few times to get oil on the seal and try it again;
UPDATE: My A/C after I discovered the leak with DYE, was fixed by my A/C guy who built the line (no charge) and the A/C has worked all summer, no issues, but damn it is loud from belt rattle. Still, largely a success!
