Doing burnouts with an E4OD

Hey guys, obviously by the title I’m asking about burnouts, I have an e40d and last time I did a half decent one I cooked my transmission, I had another stock one so I put that in, my question is, can these transmissions hold up to a burnout or if not what usually breaks, how can I prevent blowing it up again? I have 180/30 injectors and some other motor work done to it so it has the power and I like to use it sometimes, I don’t do them a lot but here and there sometimes I will let one rip, i haven’t done any since I out this new trans in out of fear of blowing it up too, I did beat on the other one pretty hard but I’m treating this one nice so far. Just looking to see any opinions or technical advice on how to prevent breakage when doing one or anything. Thanks

My only suggestion would be to get yourself an older Mustang or Miata to drive when you're feeling it, and leave the 30 year old 7000lb truck out of the powerhouse showdowns unless it's actually working.

Sounds like you did a transmission burnout instead of, or in addition to, a tire burnout.

yes that’s exactly what happened, I heard a speaking noise and I think that was the sound of my clutches and everything just dying

yeah I mean I put a new tranny in it and I’m thinking the way i did the burnout was why it blew, my truck makes enough power to blow the tires off, but when i did it my tires weren’t spinning super fast and I let off the brake and I think my tires grabbed too hard and there was too much torque on everything. Thats what I think happened but I’m notnsure

To clarify, when I said "unless it's working" I meant towing/hauling, since the E4OD isn't known to be the most reliable transmission, and I'm fairly ignorant about future proofing it...

now that’s funny.

this is why line locks are useful. No juggling between brake and gas. This is part of that “pay to play” ideology. If you want to do burnouts, expect stuff to break. No matter what you do to the truck, when you push it hard you increase the risk for carnage. Just gotta decide how much pay you want to put into your play. If you beef up the trans, you might twist a driveshaft. The list is endless.

Add a torque converter lock (simple on/off switch spliced to the purple/? wire going to the transmission harness then to ground) lock it once you are over 1500 rpm lock the TC and enjoy the smoke show, a trans temp gauge highly recommended.

After that make sure you have plenty dinero for a new transmission.

like the other guys posted get a beater these trucks aint light to be doing such things, better off getting a FWD car for burn outs like a honda those things love abuse.
