E4OD compatibility

Morning Fellas, I have a quick question about E4od interchange. A guy fairly close to me is selling a 4x4 E4OD out of a 1993 IDI truck. I have been looking for a trans to build for my 97 460 4x4 E4od truck. Would anyone know if their physically the same? Could the 93 trans be built and bolted up with my existing xfer case? Thanks guys.

No. bell housing bolt pattern is different for the IDI Vs the big block 460. The transfer case would bolt up to the trans, but the trans will not bolt up to the motor.

I think the internal are also of a different setup for the diesel, which won't work well with ant of the gas engines. I think I've read this some time back.

The internals will work fine with the gas engines, but as noted above the diesel trans won't bolt to the gas engine.

While I have nothing to add, it brings up a question of, does anyone make an adapter plate for the diesel transmission to gas motor? Or would the added thickness not be a viable option? Just curious.
