Back when the hourly wage was $2, these were $20 shoes. Translate that into today's dollars, where the hourly wage at McDonald's is $20....... Your Velcro shoes are what kings wear. Here in The USA, we don't have a king. US Presidents wear Allen Edmonds. Why? Only because Allen Edmonds sends free shoes to The White House.
Ugh, last night at 9pm it was 91 degrees. Not even summer yet. I guess I will have to sleep with the AC on the next few days. PG&E is going to love me.
I will never be smart enough to understand the psychological differences between men and women. Every guy I know, carries some sort of a knife. You ever see a girl with a knife clipped to her pants pocket? What do they do when they need to open an Amazon delivery?
The X asked me if I believe that Caitlin Clark benefited from "pretty privilege"?
Yeah. Sure. The same way The X benefits from "pretty privilege". Only she doesn't even know it.
Pretty people have an advantage in life. People are nicer to them. They get better service. They get jobs that ugly people don't get. Sometimes, they get jobs that they're not even qualified for.
As for The X, her main benefit is that she gets to sleep with me. A privilege which an ugly person does not get.
What I don't get is that other women are so jealous, that they can actually say that Caitlin Clark is benefitting from "pretty privilege". As if The NBA only drafted her because of her looks. If she couldn't play ball, she would not be playing. That's the bottom line. Otherwise, The NBA, both male and female leagues, would be full of good looking people who suck at playing ball.
Clearly, there's animosity. Other women don't like her. The other player clearly yelled, "you b!tch!"
I have fought in ring sports. And I never had that level of dislike towards another athlete. For the most part, they are fellow competitors whom I don't know in real life. I would have zero reasons to hate someone I've never even met.
I have fought people in real life. And never hated anyone that much.
Publicity stunt. They want to make women's basketball as popular as men's. So, someone in a basement in an unknown location dreamed up this debacle to raise awareness of the sport. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

I think that there's a little pettiness and jealousy. An NBA salary for women is $100,000 + change. This girl right out of college, is getting millions in endorsement deals that these other players don't have. And they want to blame it on her appearance. Typical, to compete with each other based on looks. Same way those 2 women in Congress were fighting over false eyelashes.
The NBA has a formula for paying players. It's based on revenue. Like any other business, they can't pay employees more than the gross income generated by the employees. The WNBA does not make the same money, so they can't pay the players as much.
Is it fair? Is life fair? I don't know what is fair. WNBA plays with a different ball, and the court is different. The game rules are also different.
Perhaps The NBA needs to market the division better. They could try raising prices to increase revenue. In a fair market economy, without a competing women's basketball league, they have a monopoly. The price of a ticket, is only limited by what the consumer is willing to pay. Get more people to watch, and make them pay more to watch. They will reach the threshold where the consumer decides the top value.
I don't watch. I have no interest. I don't buy the merchandise. The NBA has not captured my entertainment dollar. I don't contribute my dollar to professional sports because I don't have disposable income.
The good news is that the weather is finally cooperating.
I don't buy merchandise from any professional sports. They all make more money than they are worth IMHO, and being on a fixed income, don't have the desire to help them make more. I used to be a SF Giants fan, I mean I guess I still am, but I stopped watching professional baseball years ago. I couldn't even tell you who is on the team these days. I liked Buster Posey, but retired it seems. I have two SF giants ball caps. one from a decade or two ago I bought at a gas station/mini mart. It has not fallen apart yet so I keep it. The other one is about8 years old or so, but I did not buy that, my grandkids did. I prefer to watch Little League Baseball and Softball and will pay for a month of ESPN+ this August so I can watch them play in their respective World Series games. Currently I watch games from years past. I am up to 2019 in the girls' softball games as I watched most of the boy's games by now.
On another note, a friend gave me a ride to th noon Bible study today and even bought me lunch at Burger King. Then we stopped by the shop where the truck is. The owner says it is running fine but needs a shift cable. He will try and find one tomorrow at the local junkyard. I told him I won't be able to pick it up until I get the scooter fixed. He said that was okay. So, I'm praying that the truck will finally pass the smog test once I get it back.
I thought that there would be more attention paid to Cameron Brink, because she is related to Dell Curry, Stephen Curry, and Seth Curry. That is quite the NBA lineage.
