June 2024 all topic thread
I was just getting use to the may topic
, had a couple days of Rain here , bout time my allergies with everybody cutting hay around here is off the charts , one thang for sure it’s still green , I tried golf a couple times, my ball for some reason likes trees, windows , sand and roadways , I did like driving the carts around especially chasing the beer wagon
, they should not have cute women driving beer wagons around , a friend of mine has me working on his truck , oil cooler on a dodge is much better to work on than a 6.0 cooler , but still the same oily greezy mess , it’s all put together and now to install the new CAC boots then button it all back together with duct tape and bailing wire

had a leak in the irrigation line to the front yard , why do people pour concrete over water lines
, it’s been years since I ran a 70 pound jack hammer to bust out concrete, but I did it while my wife picked up the chunks , it seems like the landscaper or whoever glued the pipes missed a few steps, nothing in the fitting or end of pipe and cut the pipe short so it didn’t hit the stops on both ends and used Elmer’s
, oh well the 5” of concrete helt it for this long , Have a great week fellers

according to the article, "Chinese" checkers was invented in the late 1800's but did not make it to the US into the 1920's. Forgot to mention that in my previous post. There was no speculation as to why it was not marketed as German checkers instead of Chinese.

Those look like they are built for comfort.
I have gym shoes. Can't wear boots at the gym, or when I ride a bicycle. Boxing ring shoes are seldom worn, since I haven't fought in years. Deck shoes are limited to when I go boat fishing, which is only a few times a year.
The issue was dress shoes. Not that I wear "dress clothes" all that often. Clothes that would not look right if you're wearing Nikes. You can't wear gym shoes all the time, with everything. I guess some people do, but not me.
I never had anything well built. They would be uncomfortable, not breath, and typically not last. They would simply fall apart. All my fault, for buying cheap shoes. My reasoning was that I was not going to wear them regularly, so I may as well save a few dollars. Which of course, resulted in my feet hurting, cheap glue holding the soles that would dry and separate, stitches that burst open, eyelets popping out, and fake leather cracking open like 70's naugahyde. When it rained, my feet got wet. Rain water would be enough to melt away the cheap glue and cardboard soles. If I went to a funeral, I was slipping and sliding all over the cemetery because cheap shoes have no traction. How embarrassing it would be, to be a pallbearer, and slip and fall while you're carrying the casket - which I did see happen to someone else.
Boots sort of filled in, after I discovered that you could get wingtip and cap toe boots, with high traction soles.
I thought that I would break them in. To my surprise, there was no break in required. I walked around all weekend. No sore spots. Every step was soft. They slid on and off with ease. The most important part is that my feet do not hurt, and there are no blisters.
I don't have high arches, or flat feet, so I don't know if an orthotic insert would be needed or how it would fit. Allen Edmonds does make shoes for orthotics.

I always said that people are crazy for commuting. People come to work here, and say that they can't afford to live here. I get it. The cost of living is high. But they can't afford to commute, either. It's just crazy to spend hours commuting. I can't imagine losing 4 or 5 hours every day, sitting in traffic. I'm sorry that you had to sit in traffic like that.
I'm the guy who does thing, but I really don't know what I'm doing. I work on my cars, but I'm not a mechanic. I'll make food, but I'm not a cook. I'll clear clogged pipes, but I'm not a plumber. Today, I was hemming pants. Sometimes, I see pants on sale for such a low price, I can't resist. I bought some pants on Amazon for $8. They were too long. I didn't care. I figured I'll just cut them down to size. It's not like I'm going to apprentice as a tailor. Just making a cut, and stitching it down. That's how poor people live. We buy pants with the extra long legs, that got discounted because nobody that tall wanted them.
I will be in it tonight as i do the security at the church from 6-9pm, and again tomorrow as a new recovery program starts up basically the same hours. At least the AC will get a three hour break then. LOL.
