Weird issues with an almost stalling issue?

I will have more updates soon but live from the side of the road the truck is acting weird. Specs are under my sig but for those familiar with this truck it's my 94. It's done it to me twice now the truck randomly dies and fires back up. Not sure if my tach is going dead or it actually dies but I saw the tach twice now go to 0 and after a second or two shoot back up. I lost response both times for a second or two and checked for codes and I get 111 pass on KOEO and KOER. I will update later but any ideas? If I had to guess I would think it's a spark issue but hard to tell.

Update

So when it cuts out it gives no warning whatsoever and it's only for around 2 seconds I loose response. With those symptoms I am leaning towards an electrical issue of some kind. As stated before it gave me a pass code on both test and makes me think it's possibly the TFI again (ugh) because of the no trouble codes. It hasn't done it again since my drive back to town so I will keep an eye on it.

With my theory is there any way to test for a bad TFI? Or is it one of those "when it's done it's done" type deals? I'm also going to check grounds because I was wondering if that was a possibility problem too along with a possible bad connection somewhere.

Perfect! Thank you, I'm going to clean those as we speak.

Cleaned grounds and no change. It's stumbling when it starts and idles down off choke half of the time and sometimes almost dies when I put it in gear. I'm learning towards TFI module as I read some other forums describing symptoms and they're similar. I might go down and get one but before I spend 50 bucks does anyone else have any suggestions? If not, I plan on trying that tomorrow to see if it changes or not. I'm going to be out of town with it in a few days so as much as it kills my wallet my local parts store will have to do.

For reference this is what it's doing. Caught it right in the act.

Another update

Checked the fuel pressure regulator last night and fuel pressure and all good there. Replaced the TFI and it's somewhat fixed now. For some damn reason it's not cutting out like it was and nearly dying but most noticeable under load she's got a slight miss every now and then. Not sure what to think but might try another TFI to see if this one is just faulty. The one I had to out last summer did the exact same thing to me so that's what makes me think it's also bad.

Are you purchasing a correct version black Motorcraft Ignition Control Module (ICM)?

Are you using heat sink compound when installing them?

Have you run the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests and Stored Code display? hint...an erratic PIP signal can trigger a code, and cause the issue you are describing.

Yes, but I have to use the off brand for now. They did not have motorcraft and I just wanted to see if it fixed it so either it's causing the miss or it was part of the problem. TFI has weird marks on the metal part so I'm wondering if it was bad straight from the gates.

Dialectic grease but I realized that is wrong so I'm going to get some soon to replace the dialectic grease.

Yes. I get a pass every time.
I'm going to look at the distributor to make sure it's all good because I'm wondering if something is worn out inside of it.

Well I think it's fixed (knock on wood)...

I guess the TFI I replaced it with was bad so I got another and drove it for almost 50 miles and never skipped a beat. Thanks for the help everyone and I will give this an update in a week if all goes well.

Anyone know where to find a black motorcraft tfi module? I can't find one anywhere online and the parts store didn't even have it as an option. I wouldn't think they would be hard to find but my internet searches suggest otherwise. I got just a cheap one on now which is kind of worrying me because the truck sounds like it's idling lower than usual with that one now with a bit of a stubble at idle but no cutting out that I've seen or falling flat on it's face. It has a lifetime warranty so if it fails I guess I'll get another one but if it isn't stupid expensive I would prefer to put motorcraft in and be done.

Another question I had is any idea why they keep burning up? This is like the 4th of 5th one I've put in owning this truck. I only learned last year that it is best to run thermal paste instead of dialectic grease (which throws me off because the modules usually come with a little pack) but I've done this on other vehicles and never had a problem.

And my final question is, wouldn't a bad tfi throw some short of trouble code? Out of all the times they've failed in this thing only once have I ever got a trouble code for it.

Update

Truck is doing better and the stumbling idle seems to be smoothing out. Have drove the truck around 200 miles almost and hasn't skipped a beat so all good. Not a single person in my town had heat sink paste so I had to order some and switched it out today.
