Starter issues

I have a 96 F150 5.0 that I manual swapped off a 95 donor truck. I got a new brute force manual 164 tooth flywheel, and a new manual duralast starter. I got everything put together and went to start it up. The starter made a grinding sound and wouldn’t start the truck. Anyone have any advice on this? I was told on another group that I needed to buy the transmission, flywheel, and starter as a set, and that since I didn’t buy them as a set they won’t work together? I attached a video of what the truck sounded like when I tried to start it

You lost me with Duralast starter. Start with good parts and projects usually cost more with less problems.

Update, I took a file to the separator plate and filed it down enough to get the starter to engage. It starts up fine now. I’m gonna borrow a dremel and grind it out some more to clean it up

Did you swap the separator plate?
Or do you still have the auto one with the inspection cover?
