I recently heard about Auber digital gauges that can monitor EGT, boost, and a bunch of other stuff, and they sound pretty nifty. Just wondering if anyone here has experience with these. Specifically, about the display: is it visible in bright sunlight, yet dimmable enough to be not annoying on a dark night on an unlit rural road?
Auber Instruments were more popular in earlier years, before on board data readers were augmented to enable additional inputs.
To find feed back on daytime readability and nighttime glare/glow of the digital readouts, take full advantage of search tool on FTE in the upper right hand corner.
Auber Instruments yields 36 threads.
Auber by itself yields 103 threads.
Review those threads to find members who reported that they installed Auber Instruments EGT probes and readouts, and then shoot those members a PM asking for their long term assessments.
Man, just get an Edge CTS3 and be done with it. The display on the Edge is great, displaying PID’s through the obd2 diagnostic port, plus you can add other information with their various sensors for pressure, temp, etc. The display constantly monitors the lighting conditions and adjusts accordingly. It is always spot on and easy to see. The only problem I have noticed is when I am wearing polarized sunglasses. In fact, I thought it had blacked out one time until I realized what was going on. The mounting position at the bottom of the a-pillar is fantastic and does not encroach on your field of sight as some gauges do. I do use the optional a-pillar mount that costs extra but is worth every penny. I have not been disappointed at all. Plus, it displays fault codes and has the ability to clear them as well! This in my opinion is the only way to go currently. This has been an unpaid endorsement for the Edge CTS3. 😂
I can't speak for the OP, but I have a hard time seeing the point of the Edge. For nearly $500 you get a device that can do exactly what Forscan can do. The only difference I see is Edge comes with a screen and a $500 price tag. If you want to monitor any of the other engine parameters not viewable through OBD2 software you have to purchase expensive additional probes, wiring and software only available through them. Personally I prefer not to limit my options like that. I would rather have something that is cross compatible. So if a sensor goes out for some reason I can replace it with whatever I choose.

here is my CTS3 shown in the windshield, the only image I have of it showing the glass ahead, because I trim them down so folks only see the screen.
I have since changed it to show ExBkPressure instead of IpW which to me, is totally useless while driving the down the highway.
the ExBkPressure relates to me getting off the throttle, and that big trailer pushing me down a 9% grade.
going to have to change it again, because I just received the EGT probe and 2 sensor kit, I want Coolant Temp and EGTs shown on the main screen.

You can actually use any universal sensor or temp probe with them. Don't have to buy ther overpriced sensors. I have a cheap Amazon pressure sensor on line for fuel pressure and a $20 autometer temp prove for coolant temp. There worth it in my opinion. I bought mine used for around $300. It's a lot nicer display and looks a lot better then having. A phone up or what have you running forscan display. Forscan pidsnare kind of ugly imo but they do get the job done fine. Plus with the cts3 you just turn the key and it's up ready to go. No Bluetooth to connect or programs to open and wait to connect. There are pluses to both. I have both.
I argued with my Wallet for months, before I ordered the Edge CTS-3 just for that reason.
but, now that I have had it for a year plus, I would NOT go back to ugly pillar gauges,
it is just way too Versatile, 3 screens to display what you want,
when you want it.
and you can change any one of them on the fly as you drive.
just try to do that with your dedicated one-off gauge and sensor.

This is the screen that I use. Not necessarily the same PID’s though. This screen gives you the most information available of all the screens. I decided long ago to keep as much stock as possible because this vehicle came loaded to the hilt. I still like my radio and didn’t want to screw up my dash with some touch screen that was never meant to be in my vehicle, and guess what, it seems that dials and buttons may be coming back! And certainly didn’t want to jump through all of the hoops to make forscan show up on a touch screen. The Edge where I have it mounted, is not distracting at all, where I can see a touch screen might be distracting causing one to look down and toward the center of the vehicle. I started to go with a-pillar mounted gauges, but they seem to just get in the way to me. All it takes is a glance to see the Edge and once you are familiar with your PID layout, you know exactly where to cut your eyes without losing your concentration on the road. Maybe the Edge is not for everyone, but I really do like mine!
