1979 LN-600 trans info needed and VIN decode????

I have a 1979 N600 and can’t figure out any info on it. Need the vin decoded. It has the 371 V8 but not sure of the transmission. It’s definitely a 5 speed manual and when it’s running it will go into gear with or with out clutch but won’t move. Anyone got an idea of why??
VIN - N60AVFA5141

Welcome to FTE.

I moved you to Large Truck as this is the place for that truck. I'll get back to you later today on the decode.

Transmission information is not found in the VIN. You should have a warranty plate on the driver door with VIN, transmission, axle and other information. If you can post a picture of that it can be decoded.

Probably in the area of the clutch. That is where I would start.

If the transmission will go into gear with the engine running, clutch pedal down or up, but won't move, then the problem would most likely be clutch and input shaft related.

Is there a drive shaft in the truck? Did it previously run, shift and drive? Any event associated with the failure?

When you put it in gear with the engine running, does it grind when doing so with the clutch out? Is there any motion or hint of motion?

it wasn’t running when I got it. It sat for years and I had to rewire a few things got it running and it runs great. When I was towing it home the gear would grind if I tried to put it in gear while moving (with or without clutch in) but now that it’s running it doesn’t grind or anything putting it in gear clutch or not. The clutch looks fine… had a suspension it might be stuck to the flywheel but doesn’t make sense that it won’t do anything while engine running.

thank you so much!!! Very helpful at least now I can hopefully be able to get parts cuz google doesn’t have much at all on this truck. I have a question though… you said the N600 stopped in 69 but the tags on the door says 79 what’s up with that? Here’s the other tag in the door jam

It's an LN600. Ford changed it after '69.

The truck has set for a number of years so it’s most likely it was stuck, it’s most likely in working with the truck to get it going the clutch center has broke or stripped out, the only way to know this is remove the trans and take the clutch out
As a secondary thought with the engine running and transmission in gear check to see if the drive shaft is turning, many of those trucks had 2 speed rear axles, it’s possible that operating the 2 speed switch on the shifter has gotten the rear axle shifted between high and low thus the axle is in a neutral position

thanks for the advice. I do know that it’s just a single speed rear. Pretty sure I’m gonna have to pull the trans and see what’s goin on.
