To get this camper towing thread back on track….

OP, I don’t think you will find much difference between the two options as far as towing ability and comfort, but the shorter option may be a little easier to maneuver in the tight spots. I commented earlier that my ‘22 7.3 tows my 14k trailer very well and at 35’ it is remarkably nimble. These are still large boxes being towed at high speed, so conditions and terrain will likely play a larger role than the size/weight difference between these two great options.

Buy one, enjoy!

same goes for a 7.3L gas apply the same rules.

Depends how long you keep your trucks and how many miles you put on them; I have a small fleet of 5 diesels and 3 gassers and have had for 30+ years - I love my diesels but a modern diesel will cost more if you keep them long enough....there is a reason why most fleet users buy gas trucks; DPF, EGR, VGT, etc. etc. etc.

You have plenty of payload. Airbags won't be necessary. I would seriously consider a 4.30 rear axle ratio.

I really don't think you are going to notice any difference between those two units while towing. Your new truck will do a fine job towing either. We tow a 38' 13'6"high 5er weighing just under 16k w/ 7.3L but do have 4:30 gear. You will work it harder than a diesel but the 7.3 will get it done. Our 350 is a short bed and I opted for a slider hitch, I have needed to slide the hitch a few times. Once, we missed our site and had to go back around but wouldn't have made the turn without a slider. We could have rerouted out of a campground and down the highway to turn around and come back into the campground if we didn't have the hitch. The other 2 times we would have never gotten backed into our designated sites and the campgrounds were full. Slider hitch may not be mandatory but it sure is nice to know you have it.

We have never had an issue finding a site at 38' but sometimes we just had to choose a different campground. Anything over 30' is going to start lowering site options.
