Getting a new job which will supply me with a crewcab f150 with 6.5 bed. Payload of 2050. Would you feel comfortable pulling a fifth wheel of 7800 lbs dry with 1400 pound tongue weight? Flat land towing only and no longer than three hours from home.
I personally wouldn't. You'll probably be in the 11k range or higher once loaded up. The truck GVW may ? say it's alright but I want to control the trailer not vice versa.
Right now you are sitting with about 18% on pin weight before loading the trailer. Once you load the trailer, it will quickly eat up your payload capacity. The 2K capacity may not include fuel, passengers, hitch in bed, and truck cargo. All these add up.
Dry weights are meaningless on towable RVs. Go by the RVs GVWR and, on fifth wheels, calculate about 23% of the GVWR for a loaded pin weight. You also need to subtract the weight of occupants, full fuel, the hitch, and anything else you would put in the truck from the available payload number. From what you say, I think you'd be better off with a pull-behind.
