New issue that I have it starting is keeping it running. I am thinking I may have damaged the condenser or points, I can get it started but then it won't maintain and idle. Doing some troubleshooting on it with the points I was able to get to to start and have a strong spark but then it dies after a short time running.
Is the condenser fairly standard on those that I can get from a local parts shop?
Yes, the condenser should be fairly common affair and available from a localish parts place. However, I would caution you from focusing solely electrical/ignition gremlins and seriously consider fuel system side gremlins.

I recently had similar with my 66 F100, would barely run, to test it I did not have the correct condenser so I took one I had and just hooked it up to the neg side of the coil and ground, started up and ran great, actually been driving it like that but I need to get the correct one..
I think my problem was chinesium grade ignition parts

I did replace the points and the condenser which with all the voltage fun was probably good but turns out it was the main line in the distributor, it was shorting out to the case. All good now.

I feel your pain dude, dealt with that on my 61 GMC a little while back.
