So after doing some ForScan mods, I remoted stated my truck and noticed there wasn't any feedback from the remote (red/green LED flash). Well come to find out, Ford did away with the 2-way communication to the remotes! Really?!!!
I thought I disabled a setting with Forscan, as I had asked in the 2023+ ForScan thread.
My 2022 F150 remote had the feedback LED's, which I liked as I knew my truck either started or didn't. Sometimes we don't always have a clear view, and I can't hear it running.
So as petty as this might seem, I want the remote to give me feedback.
So my question for anyone that can answer it, if I purchase a remote for say a 2022 that has communication, does the truck have the ability to send the feedback since the fob can now receive communications.
Anyone try this? I might hit up my sales person and see if I can get the spare remote from my 2022 back to try.
I know I can use the Ford pass app on my iPhone or Apple watch, but I want the remote to work also.
I did notice the new remote is lighter than than the older 2022.
I see Amazon has remotes for a 2017-2022 F150, F250, F350 for about $45 with 30 day free returns. I just might grab one to try.
One last question, can I program this or is it a dealer required process? The key it comes with is un-cut obviously, but I just use my current key.
I thought the light on the fob was kind of stupid. Mine gives me red lights quite frequently, even after I see the headlights come on.
I've found that a better solution is to increase the exhaust volume. Then the truck gives you feedback that it has started, instead of the stupid light on the remote.

I like your thinking! Since the passenger side faces the neighbors bedroom, which is about 30' away, they are gonna love me at 03:30 hrs when I remote start my truck!
Won't need the FOB feedback, they will be calling to let me know the truck is running!
Already have this on my "To Do" list, but not in the very near future.
Need bed cover and mat first.
Unfortunately, they changed the frequency for 2023+, so it won't recognize it. Looking at the remote, I'm not convinced they actually did away with it. I suspect it's disabled or something. Probably waiting to add it as a feature later down the line for the '25s or something.
Looking at the remote for my 24 F350, and comparing it to the one for my wife’s 24 Edge, they look identical, except where mine has the button for the tailgate release, hers has the liftgate control. Hers has the led feedback. Mine looks like the led light is there, but not active. My 16 F350 didn’t have the feedback, so I don’t really miss it, but her 15 Edge did. Those 2 remotes were different in design and shape.

You are so right! Those pesky salute lights are overrated. Just ask pilots, no real value in knowing the gear is down and locked. Better to wait for the feeling of metal grinding against the runway.
I did end up buying a version from both generations and tearing them down. They removed the LED hardware in the new remotes but didn’t change the shell. I made a post about it in the 23+ forum a couple weeks ago. Here’s the photos.
