I've had no luck with it, so I don't. It's supposed to interface with apps on a phone like iHeartRadio, Pandora, and various others. But I don't feel like spending the energy to figure it out, as it seems rather cumbersome.

SYNC Destinations and the Ford Remote Access app are separate from SYNC AppLink - which is a SYNC feature (on select models) that allows you to manipulate certain mobile apps by using your SYNC controls.
Ford Remote Access requires a dealership visit to install the module that communicates with the app. The annual subscription for this equipment is $49.99 beyond the initial 3 day complimentary period. Your dealership is able to advise whether or not this is available for your vehicle.

Hope you are still monitoring this thread, I have a 2013 F350 with sync, and I'd love to make use of AppLink. My update status says that I am up to date, yet "Mobile Apps" does not appear to be a command my truck will recognize, nor does it appear as an available command when browsing the help displays.
I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII and my android and pandora apps are and are always kept up to date.
Any I ideas?
I'd like to have song info displayed when using pandora, and be able to use the pandora specific controls that applink offers.

I can't speculate on the future availability of Applink, but I recommend voting to have this feature added here:
