What everyone is calling prius catchers are actually Mansfield bars. Look up Jayne Mansfield, cause of death.
Mother of Mariska Haggerty on television now.

Not really. Mansfield bars are at the rear of the semi trailers to help prevent vehicles from going under the rear of the trailer. Different design and purpose.
Looks great. I think I'll go the cut it route too.
Mine was off to replace with the one I brought. So I measured 4” down from the inside top mounting lip, and cut it from the inside. No need to tape the outside.
A tip, use either an 18 or 24 tooth blade, and run the saw on the slowest speed. My saber saw sped up, it cut mine, but the blade heated up, and it slightly melted the edge and it kinda of welded the two pieces back together. LOL!
It doesn’t take much pressure to cut them, so go slow. I used some 80 grit sandpaper to smooth the edge. Just be careful of the front facing surfaces.
nice rig we did a 43 day 13,135 mile loop up thru Canada & most all of AlaskA but didn’t make it up to Tuk or DeadHorse.
Wow, that is some mileage! Driving the Dalton is still on our to-do list. I'm certain you know but for others interested, to camp at the Arctic Ocean it has to be the Tuktoyaktuk route as access from Deadhorse is restricted to shuttle bus tours.

Yep we don’t like laying around campgrounds
Frank Slide, Muncho Lake, Dawson City & Top of the World Hwy was awesome.
we aren’t retired yet so work was waiting on us back in Georgia.
If I trim my own, how much can I remove without seeing the car catchers? I really prefer not to remove safety equipment with the way people dont pay attention to their driving these days.......

err...get down there and have a look? You could even take a measuring tape.

maybe an inch. Once you see the “safety equipment” you’ll have second thoughts. Those things aren’t preventing much. They’re 1/8” steel

Mine was off as I was going to replace. I cut it from the inside which prevented any marking of the outside.
I went with 4” from the inside of the mounting lip down, then kinda ran it into the area where it angles out. So overall high is now in the neighborhood of 4-¼”. Figured I could always cut more however I like this size.
I didn’t remove the brackets, and as you can see they are hidden. I’ll post a lower pic with the camera close to the ground. That is once the sun come up!
See my other post below for more details.
Stock valance cut to 4” from inside the mounting flange. Overall height about 4-¼ inches. Can’t see the brackets.
did you have a part # or if would work with an STX 4X4? my parts guy is kinda an *** if you don't tell him exactly what you're looking for.
Doesn't matter, STX is just an options pkg on an XL. You have 3 choices of valance, the Tremor valance, 2wd valance and the 4x4 valance that I assume your truck came with. Having the part # of the part you want in advance should help accelerate the procat the parts desk....if that's where you want to purchase from.
