In 2017 I ordered my new Super Duty with the trailer camera/tpms option. Works really well especially with the NAV TV system which allows me to run my trailer camera while running down the road. I recently installed a newer version of the trailer/tpms & installed in on our new trailer. This version has the tire temperature monitoring as well. There is an extra set of wires on the new version which I am guessing plugs in next to the wiring for the 7 pin & the wiring for the camera. Question is can I upfit my 7 pin female plug on the bumper to one that will accept the newer temperature wires? I’m exactly sure where it plugs in but all those plugs are modular so I’m thinking an change out is possible. Next question is if it is possible is it worth doing because what are the odds my truck will be able to show the temperatures on the dash screen?
I have a 24’ and the camera/tpms/pro backup assist connects to the truck using a 12-pin connector. This is the same style I think since 21’ but, Ford for some reason (cheapness) only puts the 12-pin in the bed and not on the bumper for Super Duty’s. When you order the kit it comes with a replacement plug for the bumper. The harness that gets installed on the trailer has 3 pigtails with a connector for each item. There are dummy plugs installed if you aren’t using one of the three options. Since it runs through the 12-pin connector I don’t think modifying your 7-pin would do anything.
