I was wondering if anyone had added a power cowl vent with a ABS firewall cover and vintage air? Not a lot of room behind the dash.
I would be fine with the manual lever but with the AC duct there it is very hard to operate and can not get it open all the way
I just went through this. It all fits but the electric cowl vent doesn't raise the vent but 80%. I also had to move all my duct hoses on top of the factory frame bracket for the bolt in cowl vent.
From the manufacturer: Our bolt-on kit opens the cowl vent 80%; Our firewall-mounted kit opens the cowl vent 95%.
I use the electric cowl opener with the vintage air. I do not have the abs firewall. The actuator is way up there in the dash, basically pushing the last little bit of linkage to open the cowl. All the other linkage and the handle gets eliminated. It gets it open far enough to keep the outside air coming into the truck. Flip and hold the switch to get the vent open where you want it and then let go and it turns the actuator off. I have the switch in the hole where the choke used to be in the dash. Without this set up I could not use the cowl vent. I run the AC with the cowl vent open and the window down a lot.
