Air Conditioning Vent

Has anyone ever heard of an AC vent that fits where the ash tray is in he center of the dash for a 56 F100?

Don't need the ash tray but I do need AC...

I don't know anything about a vent that replaces the ash tray, but I do know you'll want more than just that one vent, if there is such a thing. You'll have better circulation if you have one on each side of the dash. You can benefit from a third in the middle to help, but imho, it's less important than the side ducts.

I have vents on each side and one in the middle. It is a Vintage Air panel.

I just want to move the vent up and eliminate the ash tray.

Why not put a vent into the ashtray face and put it back in the dash?

I was hoping not to have to fabricate something. I was looking for something I could just buy and install...
Looks like I will have to design and build something.

That is some nice work. I may decide to make a lower piece like that if I don't find a way to put the vent in the ash tray location.

I too built a lower dash extension and installed my AC vents in it after I filled my ash tray and glove box. My AC controls (modified Miata unit) go in the center console. A smooth brushed SS panel goes over the flat part of the dash.

I second the dash extension... there are a couple of problems I see if you don't use your ashtray...
  1. Missing trim on top of the ashtray.
  2. If you try using another ashtray, it may not match color...

There is no dash trim on the 56.

It's been a while since I stumbled across it, but I think I remember seeing that someone makes a fiberglass dash extension for the 53-56 F100's. Have you checked the normal catalogs? (MidFifty, BlueOval, Sacramento Early Ford, etc)
