cheap power cowl vent on 53/55

If you want to have a power cowl vent and dont want to pay the $120
that a kit costs.you can build one of your own.It uses a power window motor.The one of these I did was over 20 years ago so I went and looked at it again tried to take pics under the dash dont know if they would be helpful or not.But I would be glad to share them.I also will be doing another one soon and would document it if anyone is interested.

Heres how i did mine:





I used the actuator from underneath an electric seat. I think you could adapt just about any actuator though so long as its about the right size. My install pivots at one end as the worm screw pushes/pulls the vent open/closed. It works perfectly and seals nice. You have to remember to put a stopper at the limit of travel you want to work with though!!
