Anyone seen this before?

I'm doing the body work on my 95 F150 in preparation for paint when winter decides to move on. Something has been bugging me with the roof to cab seams on this truck.
If you look at the attached pics you can see how open and sloppy the seams are and with the small tack welds it just does not look like anything the factory would have done back when the truck was built. Is this a common problem with these trucks? I'm replacing all the rain gutter sealant with a more modern 3M seam sealer. I will be addressing these seams soon as well.
I'm just really curious if any of the members have seen this before and how they may have addressed it. My thoughts are to tig weld it when the back window is out.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Mine looked the same. I presume the flanges are spot welded on the interior side and the outer joint was just sealed with seam sealer.

So do you think the spot welds were factory, or something done later by a previous owner?

Maybe I was wrong in assuming he had already dug out the old sealer as mentioned in post 1?

I had dug nothing out yet. Thats the way it was when I acquired the truck.

Looks factory to me.
Ok. Thank you. Must just be an area where over time the old factory sealer hardened and fell out. Time to get in there deep with a Dremel wire brush and clean it out real well.

Mine look similar, and I have made similar observations and questions as you, so dont feel crazy. If it is how it left factory . thats a little sad, but i feel like for the seam sealer to have fallen out, it would be unpainted under where it would have been?

Its hard to tell. The truck has had so many really bad paint touchups over the years before I owned it I can't tell whats original. Stripping it to bare metal is the only option to get it right.

I can almost guarantee mine is factory this way since my gpa would have never cared to do anything for the cosmetics of this truck and we have owned it since 2004. that leaves 8 years it could have had after factory work done to it, but im suspecting its from the factory.
