All went to hell. Multiple codes
All went to hell. Multiple codes
Hi all,
I got a check engine light. Pulled the codes and I have:
P0528 Fan speed sensor no signal
P0480 Cooling fan 1 control circuit malfunction
P1408 EGR flow out of self test range
P0472 Exhaust back pressure EBP circuit out of range.
I doubt it all went to hell at the same time so I'm hoping there is a simple fix before I start taring everything apart

Ok. quick update.
There is an EGR delete since I got the truck 2 years ago. not sure why the P1408 came up. Any thoughts?
The EBP sensor was replaced with a motorcraft about 3 months ago. Was getting a difference code. Something about turbo out of range or something.

It sounds like you have a 7.3 fan clutch.
It also looks like that's a residual code for an egr delete.
If those are your only codes it looks like you have an Egr valve plugged in and seated in the exhaust manifold. I'd also make sure the fitting and tube for the EBPS are clean and clear.

What makes you think the fan clutch is from a 7.3? I had it replaced last year from a shop that is specialized in diesel trucks and very trusted in the area.
When you say the "Egr valve plugged in and seated in the exhaust manifold." is there a fix for that? video?
The EBPS Tube and sensor was replaced 3 months ago. Still think it's an issue?
Do keep in mind if you have your truck shown in your signature, it doesn’t show up for people on mobile devices.
Assuming from your profile this is an 08 6.4l, what fan clutch was put on it? Motorcraft(Ford)? Aftermarket fan clutches don’t work well on these trucks. Check the connector on top of the fan shroud, make sure it’s still there and plugged in, seen fans seize and rip all the wiring out for the fan.
The EBP sensor more then likely needs a new pigtail as they go bad often, the out of range code is most likely a poor connection.
As for the egr code, if it’s been deleted and tuned, that code won’t do anything.
