Hi. I was wondering if anyone has any information about the sound insulation on the Diesel Limited Excursions. It seems that I was told by a salesman that Ford had improved it on the 02 Limited. I drove one today and it seemed as loud as the 01. Also, has anyone added aftermarket sound insulation? If so was it effective? Thanks for the info. I am close to buying and appreciate any info I can get..:-)
I am not sure where else they could add additional sound dampening material. Perhaps they changed to a better dampening material becuase most of the panels under the dash or insulated as well as the inside of the hood.
Hop into an F250 or F350 with the Powerstroke and you'll really see how much quieter the X is. Driving down the highway with the radio on, you really don't hear the diesel. Although I must admit, it's a nice purr.
I actually removed the insulation from under my hood
to make my Excursion louder.
I can say that my 2002 PSD is a bit quieter than my buddies
2000 PSD , but not by much...
Thanks for the imput.. I am probably in the minority here- wanting to make a PSD quiet! I'm sure I will get used to the noise - my husband really likes it. Thanks for all of the great info and advice..
