Funny thing about fuses, back a lifetime ago I used to go to a local scrap yard and shop once a week for junk. Never knew what you'd find. Anyways, there would on occasion be a front half of a car that a body shop used sections etc. I'd pull every fuse out of the fuse box. I did this many times. The stuff we (my dad and I) bought at the scrap yard was .10 cents a pound. Many times the owner would say take whatever we had because it wasn't metal anyways. I used to buy a lot of lawnmower parts there and at that time I was fixing lawnboy push mowers. I used to find bagger units and brand new they were over $100 back then. He'd tell me to take it.
I haven't thought about this in many years...... it was a Friday morning activity for Dad and me. I would pick him up in the morning after I got off night shift and go "shopping " lol
It's been 30 years and I still have an assortment of fuses lol
As a kid Dad used to send me to the Gas station on Base, yeah I was an Air Force brat, to buy fuses for our old 50's Buick. Seems like to me they were something like a quarter for one of those little tins that had 5.
Yes Wayne I too think life has flown by me sometimes when I go to buy something. More so when I eat out. We could have NEVER afforded a $5.00 hamburger back then. That would have filled the tank of the car and had a bit left over.
Kevin, that's not a bad idea as it looks as thought glass fusses are going to be unobtanium soon.

Glass fuses are still in current production and used in multitudes of current products everywhere. I don't expect their overall availability to dwindle, but I do (unfortunately) expect local consumer availability of these and many things to continue to evaporate. Name a local store you can walk into to get some resistors, capacitors, transistors. That has no bearing on them being manufactured or available.
On a related note, A few years ago, I blew a fuse in my new F150 with some bad trailer wiring. Opened the fuse box and saw it didn't take any of the many style fuses I had on hand... In this case, it was a MCASE+ slotted fuse that I needed. At the time, nobody knew what they were, had them, or could point me to anyone but the dealership. Even regular online sources didn't list or have them. I eventually found an obscure online website that sold them and ordered a lifetime supply.

Once in a while you can find a restaurant that has good prices. Of course they don't compare to prices from 40 years ago.
Yesterday after church we went to the Valley Hotel for lunch. I haven't eaten there for a long time. It used to be known as a dirt bar, a nuisance bar. It is now under new ownership. We ate in a separate dining room. I couldn't believe the prices. For instance, 12 wings for $11.95 which my wife got. I ordered a seafood platter for $12.95. It included breaded fish, a crab cake, fantail shrimp and fries.

Apparently you guys don't have a $16.28 minimum wage (yes, even for tipped employees). Those would easily be $25 plates here. The wife and I go to a car club breakfast once a month, rotating at small diners around town, and we can't get out without spending at least $50 for 2 basic breakfasts and coffee. We don't get out much.
Then, of course, there's that viral story about the $24 Five Guy's hamburger.
BJ instead of Kevin’s solution that requires soldering just go grab a 22 bullet.
if you hear a loud bang while driving you know you have a big wiring problem. Hmmm I wonder how hot it would actually have to get to fire one off. Crazy hot I would think. That would be a good mythbusters topic.
Two Angles Restaurant in Antigo, WI has a breakfast special that includes: Two eggs any style, toast, and hash browns for $4.99. The servings are good size too. Just a few years ago the price was $2.99--twenty years ago it was $2.50. When it comes to prices and inflation, just remember we get what we vote for.
