E4OD acting up when cold

I have a 1994 E350 motor home

Last fall it drove and shifted fine

Went to back it out of the shed last week end and it wouldn’t go into reverse

Ran it through all the gears a couple times and it finally went into reverse. I backed it out into the driveway It went into forward gears fine. But took several seconds to shift into reverse. Drove it down the road a couple miles to warm it up and it shifted into reverse fine

The next day we drove it 30 miles to get propane and it worked fine

Then we took it camping for a trip

It got down to 30 degrees When we went to leave it wouldn’t engage into drive or reverse

Cycled through the gears and it seemed to engage but it only moved 10 feet and stoped. Shifted through the gears again and it moved a few more feet. Shifted to second gear and it got moving. Shifted back to drive. Drove 40 miles home no issues

Got home let it set over night and the next morning. The same no going into forward or reverse After a few tries it worked great

The next after noon 70 degrees out fired up and shifted great

After searching everywhere on what it’s doing I realized that a couple times after it seemed to be worked shifting into reverse would kill the engine or lug the engine down until I had driven several miles

So it’s all temperature related

Is a valve hanging up in the tcc solenoid when it’s cold?

Pulled the codes tonight and none of them are transmission related

I am thinking it’s a faulty solenoid pack but hate to buy a $200 part if I am missing something

No solenoid can cause no reverse.

Low trans fluid could cause all of the symptoms you've shared.

Transmission fluid level is fine. I replaced the filter and flushed the system last spring

Did you check the ATF level with the trans warmed up, in park, and the engine idling?

Get a 0-350 PSI pressure gauge. Install it in the test port on the driver's side of the trans. If you have one with a long hose you can read it from in the cab. See if the trans is losing pressure when it acts up.
