2005 f 250. They will work if I use the slide on the aftermarket brake controller. They dont activate with the brake pedal. The indicator light will adjust with the gain ****. Apparently there is some sort of cruise control- trailer brake relationship. The cruise hadn't worked since I bought the truck , same as the trailer brakes. I replaced the sensor on the master cylinder and the cruise works but not the brakes. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.
Bad connection to the trailer. Truck isn't "sensing" the trailer, and the manual slide overrides that requirement. Something near the bumper or ball is not right.
check to see that the wire to the switch on the brake pedal is still properly attached. This triggers the brakes when the brake light turns on with aftermarket controllers.
For unrelated reasons, I have recently put a new harness ,plug and bracket on it. The problem was there before and after. Unless there is damage to the truck harness somewhere.
the brake switch you say? If it is hooked up what are the chances that the switch is cooked?

if your brake lights on the truck come on, the switch is good. The aftermarket controllers use this same wire to trigger the brake controller.
Is the controller the stock one that came with the truck or is it an aftermarket controller ? If aftermarket, what make/model? If it is the stock controller how do you KNOW the trailer brakes are not working? You do know that they will not work with the brake pedal until you are traveling about 8MPH don't you? They work once you hear the automatic door locks go down.
as far as how do I know? The light doesnt react to the brake pedal. Crank the gain and the trailer wheels wont lock up. Hit the side and it will activate at the same settings.
Wow, I had that one years ago and yeah, you sure could tell when it was functioning. If you do decide to replace it, go with the Tekonsha Prodigy for a few more bucks, miles better.
Tekonsha is a very reliable company. I would call/email them to request help. They will do most anything to keep a customer. Go to their web site for help.
