brake control issues
Hey guys, having some problems with my brake control in my 2010 F350. I do not have the stock brake controller so I had get an aftermarket one. I got the factory harness from ford (brand new truck did not come with one but that is an entire other issue). So I installed the the new brake control and with no trailer attached the digital readout works, I hot the brakes and it climbs from 1.0 - 10.0, I thought this was only suppose to register when the trailer is hooked up. So I hook the horse trailer up and everything works as it should. Hook my construction trailer up to it and as soon as I hit the brakes the trailer brakes lock up and will only unlock when I disconnect trailer from truck. I hooked up to my buddies quad trailer this weekend and it seems to slow it down but no matter how I set the gain on the control it does the same thing. And when I apply constant brake pressure (30% brake or something) the digital readout jumps around 2.0, 3.5, 9.0 5.4 etc, with the same brakes applied. Anyone know what is up here? I am in the market for a new controller, what do you guys use?
