Used 2006 Need help
Im looking to buy my first real truck and there is a guy not too far from me selling a
2006 F250 crew cab short bed 4x4
Its from Texas and doesn't have any rust on it at all.
Really clean inside as well with leather interior
However it does have 269,000 miles on it.
All of the following has been done in the past 100 miles
- Rust free Texas cab
- valve cover gaskets
- breaks/ lines
- master cylinder
- titan stage 2 with 9 blade wheel turbo
- egr delete
- trans pan/ gasket/ filter/ fluid
- all motor and transmission sensors
- ac recharged
- serpentine belt
- sct mild tune
- steering column and shift tube
- frame wire wheeled and painted
- oil changed
- just added led headlights and switch back turn signal - updated mirrors
I did ask him if its been "Bullet Proofed Diesel" engine?
In other words has four of the five pattern failures been addressed with genuine Bullet Proof Diesel parts. This includes the problematic OEM oil cooler as well as the FICM module, EGR cooler and water pump?
(I read on the internet somewhere to ask these questions so I did, even though I don't know anything about it all lol)
He said that "It has everything but being studded and its gets 22mpg"
Long story short Im looking to you all to help me to know if $5500 a good price for this truck or is it too much because of the miles?
Thanks so much for your time.
all engine and trans sensor replaced
No studs
aftermarket turbo
tunes
Lots of work recently
price don’t seem bad but be prepared to dump 5k more into cleaning up a mess
They have $5500 in parts and labor alone seems like with all that work
they want it gone price
Do you know anybody into 6.0 “gear head” that could test drive it with you
There’s a buying used info in tech folder
Look this thread over:

Why would anyone doo all the listed items in '100 miles' and then sell?
$5k might be a good deal for a 6.0 hobbyist, but it sounds like a patched up problem for a newbie.
Remember, theres nothing more expensive than a cheap 'xxxxx'
My red flag is the tunes. I like my Fseries stock, like Woody Hayes said - "only three things can happen when you pass (the football) and two of them are bad." Granted, our trucks are too old to not have been worked on, but I don't want all the aftermarket upgrades. Those are usually installed by "aftermarket" techs and gung-ho DIYers. Nothing wrong with that necessarily. This forum has hundreds of DIYers who are very competent and there are good independent shops. My point is that it just increases the risk. I'd rather pay less for a truck that needs all that work, then do it myself, rather than pay more because some DIYer already did it with aftermarket upgrades.
But, it looks like you got a discount to account for that. Yeah, just figure to do some work on it to get it up to snuff, then maintain it going forward. If the body/cab is as you say, those prolly sell for a good price up north. Having bought a few cars from up north, our Texas vehicles are worth more. So, you might have a potential profit maker.
Definitely go through the Tech Folder's check list.
I steer clear of any / all trucks with "tunes" --- they tear the crap out of these and other engines over time.
