I am looking into options for extended warrenty for my 06' F250 w/ 106K miles and wanted your thoughts. (My aunt is the manager at the local credit union so I know I am not getting screwed by an outside company)

Does this mean injectors are not covered??
The plan I am looking at cost $835.00. 3 Year or 36K miles
Does a diesel run on GASOLINE? I'd be more worried about the EGR system not being covered with the 6.0 engine. Ask if the engine OIL COOLER and EGR COOLER is covered.
I questioned her on that, she is looking to see what they say on injectors. I hope that is covered becuse that is a concern. Even if they don't cover EGR, or Oil cooler do you think its worth it. I just replaced FICM.. so not too worried about that at the moment.. and it would actually be more miles covere because I have 106K and it covers to 151K.
Mainly I was wanting to cover something incase my head gaskets go bad, or Turbo goes out.
What about turbo over boost? I think I am starting to have turbo issues and if its putting a higher PSI say around 28 to 30 more often will that have an effect on the head?
I guess I should call FORD and see what extended warranty they offer. This states that you have to purchase the warranty within 20 days of buying the vehicle, but my Aunt worked around that.
I was told from a diesel/turbo mechanic that he will not clean turbo's becuse they will sometimes still fail not too long after the cleaning.. thoughts?
Standpipes and dummey plugs, is this an easy fix?
With the miss in the transmision and the turbo issue I feel like this would possibly pay for itself, but I do see where you are coming from. Just wish I was a better mechanic so I could do some of the stuff you suggested myself.
What does the Trans Do that makes you concerned???
The Turbo is OK its at its Upper Limit dont want to see any more than 30PSI without Headstuds
unless you get alot of Blow Back into the Air Filter some Blowback is Normal though
the Blowback is when you hit WOT and then when its Boosting Hard you suddenly let Off and then you get that Woosh Woosh Woosh sound and this would be Normal
If you just Going along say at Mid Throttle and get the Woosh Woosh Sound But Accelerator Peddal position Did NOT Change this is Not Normal and Need some cleaning
I have a good friend that works as a diesel mech. at a Ford dealership and he said that aftermarket companies warranties are not good, said hes been told by those companys that they will not cover some things. And they always give trouble/runaround trying to get out of covering things.
I bought my Ford ESP premium and never had any problems getting things covered. It was pricey but worth it, paid for itself many times over.

If Ford were to sell you a warranty now, they do a thorough inspection of the truck prior to issuance. If it has symptoms of problems they will not sell it to you unless you pay for existing problems found first. Ask me how I know.

Do you have a Scan gauge II, Edge or similar vehicle monitor? If not, get one. One of the most important things you can buy for your 6.0. Can tell you when things are going or starting to go south and you can fix them before it really costs you $$.

He's right. When I brought mine to the dealer they inspected it and found I had a vibration and replaced my rear driveshaft and pinion seal at a cost over $1,300.00. Fortunately I was still under the original warranty so it was covered.

I agree. I bought the scan gauge II and it was a great investment, it can monitor so many things and for $160.00 or less if your lucky to find a deal. Buy a monitor ASAP.
If you choose to go with a aftermarket warranty I hope it works out for you and doesn't leave you hanging like some others I've heard about. Let us know what you do.
Something that I found while dealing with a non-Ford extended warranty on a 6.0 was that they will look at several things while attempting to NOT pay for repairs. One is ANY aftermarket, non-Ford modifications. ie, Delete Kits, programmers, exhaust, EGR plugs, Etc!!!! They will also ask for all maintenance records. If you missed scheduled maintenance, they can deny you. They can also demand that YOU pay for the teardown to determine the cause of the problem. Once the teardown is complete and they don't like what they see, you are stuck. (I got into a protracted battle with the warranty company after my turbo failed. They made me pay to tear it down, and then denied the claim because they could find nothing wrong with it even though it didn't work!) If they find Coking or soot in your turbo (they all have it to varying degrees) they will deny your claim.
I did note that many Ford dealers told me the Ford extended warranties were much easier to deal with. (Surprise!)
I wouldn't have owned a 6.0 without an extended warranty.
Good luck with yours
Best regards
Bill

Autoanything.com has the scan gauge II for $159. They have 15 percent off plus free shipping.
