power steering fluid

Anyone know what kind of fluid I need for my 97 f150 4.6?

Mercon V (replaced originally specified Mercon).

That goes in the brake fluid reservoir, not the power steering...

Yeah I ordered some mercon v as the first person said to get. Strange that the power steering uses atf.

ATF is common in steering systems. It is a hydraulic oil in the end. Mine has cheap Dex/Merc stuff from Autozone.

Any clue why people flip out if not using Mercon V? Legit, no clue. LV and Dex VI totally different and understand.

My 70W and 4R100 both full of el cheapo and shift perfect.

Beats the heck out of me. FWIW, I use Valvoline MaxLife in everything I own.
