1999 F250 RWD (2WD) Ext Cab - My scan tool shows 11 "B" DTCs. Example B1352 Ignition key, B1840 Wiper power, B1458 Washer pump, etc. None of these circuits have any problems but I can't figure out how to clear these codes. I have left the batteries disconnected for 3 days, and I have searched my scan tool for a way to clear. The codes are persistent.
Can anyone tell me how to clear these codes? I can clear the "P" (powertrain) codes, but not the "B" (body) codes.
Looks to me like you are using a generic reader and possibly a generic OBD II tool.
Regardless of $$$$$$ almost all readers are junk when it comes to our 7.3's.
Key in is valid.. Bet you have a dinger when the key is out and door open, very common.
The other two are not valid for our trucks.
Get FORScan or FORScan Lite. Follow the instructions on their site and get the proper OBD II reader.
Pull all codes, clear all codes, pull codes again.
Run all diagnostic tests provided and see what shows up.
For a quick and dirty solution, you can try a reset. I know it works on the PCM but only guessing it will work on the GEM. What you do is disconnect the negatives from both batteries and insulate the post of the batteries so no chance of completing a circuit. Then you jumper the negative cable to the positive cable for 5-10 minutes. This will fully discharge all the capacitors and reset the PCM to factory settings. It will behave a little strange at first while it relearns shift points and idle, but shouldn't take long.
All 11 B codes are listed in the factory service manual (including the 3 I listed as examples). The dinger has been disconnected which explains the B1352, but the wipers and washers work properly, as well as the horn (B1217) and the power locks (B1300) and all the other B codes.
I'm using an OTC Genisys tool with software up to 2014. I tried my Auto Enginuity tool but I don't have the enhanced package for Ford so it's pretty useless. I'll look into the Forscan tool.
Problem solved. FORscan software (free) + OBDLinkEX (recommended) works great. Cleared out all codes - "B" and "P". Was able to re-scan and get just the current codes. This is a great scan tool for Fords. Software is free, adapter link is only $50. You can't beat it.
Thank you Jimmy's Pilot Service for the recommendation.
