When I start my engine (V10) in the morning I seem to have a sound like a miss. But it is not missing. It runs very smooth. Once it warms up it isn’t as bad but it is still there. I’ve only owned it a couple weeks now. This is one of the cleanest used trucks I’ve ever bought. From underneath to the top. It looks like it was taken care of by whoever owned it in the past. But that sound bothers me. Any idea? Thanks
Mine has a slight exhaust manifold leak when I first start it. Once it warms up it seals up and doesn't do it anymore. Sounds like a miss at idle, but it's just a leak. It could be that
Could easily be the exhaust leak mentioned. Mine's been like that for going on 10 years. Since it hasn't gotten worse, I haven't tackled the problem.
Also, check all of your spark plugs to make sure they're not loose. You can put a fingertip on top of each COP in turn and see whether it's bouncing or still. You want them to be still. Any that are loose need to be addressed immediately before they blow.

my 2001 10 cylinder EX seems to do the same thing. Is yours gas or Diesal? Not sure if that would make a difference🤣
Mine is the gas V10 with 210k on the clock. If the leak gets worse I'll deal with it, but it's not terrible.
oh ok mine is the same 2001V 10 has 177 on it but it seems to be the same after a few minutes. I barely hear it anymore. I also have the pinion seal sound in the back but it’s really not terrible not the noise people say they get when they have to definitely replace it right away, one mechanic I had said just keep an eye on the fluid as long as it’s Not leaking and you don’t mind the slight whine noise you’re fine that was over 10 years ago . New mechanic guy said if it gets louder you definitely need to replace it.. I’ve had the fluid changed in the rear end a few times I barely put 5000 a year on it now or less …no leaks so holding off for now
thanks for the reply👍👍
You should be able to look in the wheel wells and inspect the exhaust manifold studs and nuts. See how many are missing...
If not exhaust manifold leak, try cleaning the MAF and check for any obvious vacuum leaks. The PCV hose at the 90deg bend as it enters the intake (on top of engine) is a common failure point.
