Well that was fun. Took the left rear apart, felt ok. Pumped the brakes a little to get the pistons out some and the lower moved less than the upper. Grabbed my large channel locks to give them a squeeze. The lower one was really stiff, the upper was fine. Put a new caliper/bracket on.
The brake fluid that I drained out of the old caliper was weird. It was slightly discolored but not far off of new fluid. But it seemed slightly gelled or at least thicker than normal brake fluid. The fluid I bled out of the new caliper was fine. The fluid has only been in there since October when I did the MC and booster. And I bled 2 large containers of brake fluid thru because of the goo that was in the old MC.
I dunno. Hopefully I won't be doing anymore brakes until spring.
you know there is an easier way to bleed brakes yourself. Also, brake fluid is the most overlooked part of a brake system.
Maybe your lines are in bad shape internally and the new fluid loosened some of it up causing the weird fluid, IDK

I don't know what happens to brake fluid when it gets really hot. It's been a week or so of driving with the caliper hanging up.
Have become tired of the constant brakes hanging up. I figured every time I switch from winter to summer tires and back breaking down the calipers and brackets to clean and grease the slides would be enough. Apparently not.
I am thinking about drilling and tapping a grease fitting on the bracket and every 3 months giving a pump or 2 of some high temp wheel bearing grease in.
Thoughts?
Does it sit a lot? They tend to get sticky when parked a lot
Figured I would update as I'm having abs issues now.
No issues with brakes dragging or hanging up since I cleaned and re lubed with the AGS sli-glyde. Of course the abs is being stoopid. No light on the dash and no codes for about a week but anytime on the brakes below 10ish mph the abs goes nuts which is lotsa fun plowing driveways.
Finally got the abs light on put forscan on it. left front abs messing up. Wheel bearings are tight so ordered new wires. Hey look! the left front dust shield is missing and so is the better part of the one of the ujoint cups!
Replaced all that junk but haven't had a chance to drive it yet.
