compression test without injectors

compression test without injectors
i aquired engine with no injectors. i want to do a compression test .using a spare injector then rrmoving it and doing next cylinder. my question is will.the hpop pump oil into cylinders on the the open hole cylinders?

Never heard of anyone trying it that way but can't think of a reason it wouldn't work. Yes the hpop would continue to pump irregardless of what's going on downstream. Probably the simplest way to disable it, without risking any damage from running it dry, would be to pull the drive gear. Is this engine in a truck or on a stand? Another thought and possibly easier if working off a stand would be to leak down test the cylinders. Then you wouldn't have to spin the engine at all. Just a thought.

No I didn't, I've learned to never assume. An engine minus injectors is just an engine without injectors until told otherwise.

No problem spinning the engine with one injector at a time.
Like UD said, pull the drive gear off HPOP to avoid pumping oil into the other cylinders.
If turbo is off, LPOP will be pumping oil out there as well....

If unbolting the the top you've just unbolted the whole reservoir so might as well just pull it all as 1 unit. Been awhile since I had a fuel bowl but that would likely come as well..

you don't have to worry about the oil in the HPOP, it won't go anywhere if you unbolt the gear.
