i aquired engine with no injectors. i want to do a compression test .using a spare injector then rrmoving it and doing next cylinder. my question is will.the hpop pump oil into cylinders on the the open hole cylinders?
Never heard of anyone trying it that way but can't think of a reason it wouldn't work. Yes the hpop would continue to pump irregardless of what's going on downstream. Probably the simplest way to disable it, without risking any damage from running it dry, would be to pull the drive gear. Is this engine in a truck or on a stand? Another thought and possibly easier if working off a stand would be to leak down test the cylinders. Then you wouldn't have to spin the engine at all. Just a thought.
If unbolting the the top you've just unbolted the whole reservoir so might as well just pull it all as 1 unit. Been awhile since I had a fuel bowl but that would likely come as well..
does gear come out of the top lid on hpop.resevoiir or do i have to.take the whole thing off?
The gear bolt is behind the cover plate on front of reservoir. Unhook EBPS tube, remove (2) 8mm bolts, then 18mm bolt that holds fat washer and HPOP drive gear.
