So I noticed yesterday that my front tank fuel pump makes a low whine while running. When I switched to the rear, the noise is gone. Fuel pressure holds steady at 31psi with vacuum and 41 without and same on both. A year and a half ago the dealer replaced the sending unit only and filler hose(kinked). I can't tell if it's a new noise or not. Never paid attention before as I was adding an adjustable regulator yesterday. Not sure if I should be worried or not.

They get noisy as they start to wear out (way worse on the Chevs)
If you ever take an old one apart and inspect the commutator (brush to armature interface)
You will see extensive wear of the armature (causing the noise)

That's what I am thinking. I am going to recheck today. Psi is the same on both just one is a little noisy.

Mine are both noisy, front a little louder, but truck runs fine on either, (although front fuel gauge doesn't work) '91 f150
Edit: will the bed have to be pulled to replace them? I don't even have a garage, so it'd be ideal if it didn't.

Not necessary to remove bed, but if doing both might be easier. I will go with the Delphi when it quits and may order it to have on hand. Thanks for the info.
