Installed first hydra, would not run in tunes mode 1-15, but would in 00, wait to start light works in 00 , nothing in 1-15, sent pcm to shop and it passed inspection , also had icm upgraded while pcm was there , reinstalled checked pcm and upgraded icm and second hydra , nothing changed, went out the next morning and got it to work for 10 minutes and then it stopped, replaced the whole wiring harness from plug to sensors/ alternator and solenoid. thinking old wires, nothing still no go for tunes, but will for 00 which is bypass. Anybody who's had a similar experience and has advice , its welcome, patience has worn thin.
Yes , I did on the first chip and yes php did it for me on the second, back to the original question , have you had similar problems, everything possible has been replaced and checked . Wiring harness, pcm, icm , batterys are brand new, injectors are new, glow plugs are new, valve cover wiring new, the truck will run on 00, not on tunes.
I see from your post history that you may have had a SuperChips and/or other programmers in the past? Is your PCM currently flashed to stock settings, or is there possibly an existing custom tune lingering on your PCM?
I am confused. If your truck runs normally with no hydra or on 00, why would you check the wiring in the truck. the only wiring for the Hydra is the ribbon cable from switch to chip and chip directly on PCM.
has to be user error if 2 are acting the same. I've never had an issue, so i will let these guys attempt to figure it out.
sounds like the tunes aren't written on the chip but I thought the Hydra wouldn't let you access anything unless it was programmed, IDK
so you are saying if on any number but 00, the truck won't start? I don't understand what it's doing or not doing exactly but i'll leave it to the others
As you probably know, 00 is stock bypass which completely bypasses all tuning on the chip. So it sounds like it’s only having issues while trying to run a tune.
Doesn’t say what vehicle. Could this be a PATS issue?
Otherwise what about sending both the PCM and Hydra to PHP for a total system check?
The super chips was returned to stock and removed prior to the hydra , the original hydra was properly tuned from the tool menu and the second hydra was tuned from the factory shop (php) with the exact same tunes to rule out operator error , I just crawled out from under pickup and cleaned the body ground and will clean the other ground in the morning , still not working from 1-15 tunes, but will run in 00, check engine light comes on immediately after switching up in to tune and goes away when brought back to 00 and key is cycled. My brother also has a 7.3 2000 year and will try it on his with his blessing to rule out my pickup as the issue, yes I know I will have to change the tunes too his pcm.
I disconnected the negatives on both batterys for two minutes and reconnected them. hydra worked for one minute in driveway and 1 1/2 mile drive down the rode and shut off and would not restart in tune mode , but would in bypass. I'll get with hydra folks Monday , im stumped.
