TPS Replacement

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to replace the TPS sensor on my 93 F150 with the 300i6. Can I just simply remove the two screws and pop the old sensor off and the new one on? I’ve been doing some research but can’t seem to get a straight answer. I wasn’t sure if the sensor would need to be relearned or if it’s just a simple swap. Thanks in advance.

You can swap it that way, but then you need to check the voltage with throttle closed. Also you should reset the computer and let it relearn anytime you replace any sensor in the system.

Thank you for the reply. How can I go about checking voltage and resetting the computer?

There is no need to reset the computer. It relearns the tps sensor closed throttle voltage every time you start the truck.

Why do you want to change the TPS?

The ECM, relearns the throttle position each time you start the truck, you have a window of, 0.6-1.0 DC volts at full closed-->Throttle Position Sensor Testing, Replacement and Adjustment | Full Size Ford Bronco Forum

They are not adjustable, and the spec is .8 to 1.3volts at closed throttle
I never do any of that relearn stuff and just let the truck do it
I never re measure the voltage either
You can rely on a code for the TP after replacement
