The TPS in my 1996 is acting up periodically.
I ordered a new one. The new one that is suppose to be for this truck turns out to be quite a bit different, about the only thing that matches the old one are the mounting screw holes.
In researching, the dealer tells me that the TPS I have is obsolete and the only way I can replace it is to purchase the entire throttle assembly for the cost of $450.00. Has anybody experienced this problem and are there any suggestions as to solving it next to buying the complete assembly?
I've had to buy the pedal assy for a couple of mine, was cheaper at powerstrokeshop.com by quite a bit than the dealer. I belive their was a thread a while back about being able to get the sensor....
I think Ford changed the accelerator assembly in 96. The Dorman TPS shows applications for 96-97 only. It's possible you have the old unit even though your truck is a 96.
Here's an old thread with pictures of the newer assembly
