fuel filter light means there is no fuel pressure.[/QUOTEThe truck does not run like it is restricted. OEM filter is less than month old. Light comes on even before it is running
The light is connected to a vacuum switch not a pressure switch. Unless the injectors are pulling more fuel than the pump can push through the filter, causing less than zero pounds of pressure it shouldn't be on.
Truck is stock. Injectors should not be pulling more fuel than pump can handle. Am i wrong or should the light not be on if truck is not running. Key is on light is on. Thanks for trying to help, but your answer is way above me
Mine doesn't even come on with the ignition key cycle.
I have never seen one on, even when I forgot to change my filter for several years and it started loosing power (maybe my light is broken? )
anyhow it should only come on if there is a vacuum at the pressure regulator.
disconnect the wire and see if the light goes out. If it doesn't it is getting a ground somewhere in the wiring.
also there is a Schrader valve on the fuel filter, Use a tire pressure gauge and see if you have pressure at idle.
it will ruin the gauge for doing tires so get a cheap one to use on fuel and mark it.
Your engine bay won't look like mine, I have added the cac system and removed the cover. But that is the fuel vacuum sensor.
if the light goes away with it un plugged just leave it unplugged. Then when it starts leaking put a brass 1/8 inch pipe plug in the hole and be done with it.
Ok lead driver. I know that switch and shrader valve trick. I have a tire gauge just for that purpose. Did not know which swittch you were talking about until you mentioned leak and plug. No pic required. Did not realize it was vacuum since it has a wire. Thanks will unplug next chance i get. Not a daily driver so not an emergency. Thanks again
